Trying my new graphite watercolor…
The models for American Gothic, ca. 1940s.
It was fun being vegetarian while it lasted.
in your arms I am the first snow of the year
bloodied white from my uninhabited womb
cradle me, I am alone in my body.
I have a temporary tattoo of a member of One Direction on my butt. Guess who it is and you get a prize.
Federico Infante is an painter born in 1982 Santiago, Chile. Currently living in New York. Infante received his BFA from Finis Terrae University (Santiago, Chile) in 2002 and graduated in Spring 2013 with his MFA in Illustration from theSchool of Visual Arts in New York.
His works, greatly inspired by the Chilean landscape, are unique in their juxtaposition of abstraction with figurative sections and detailed architectural images. From a hazy, unclear mist, a figure holding a musical instrument might emerge. From the darkness, we might see a set of stairs, rendered with incredible precision, leading into the unknown. He seamlessly blends the genres together to create stunning works on paper and canvas. via
I grew up in a place where I was forced to develop my powers of contemplation. The magnificence of the Chilean landscape changes and challenges your perspective. It made me think clearly about my decision to become an artist. For me, this was the right path.
New York and its people have altered my creative process in a beautiful and positive way. Hidden in this city are images more mysterious than any I could ever imagine. The challenge of a new painting lies in each new day.
The real meaning of “I’m not like the other girls” is, I think, “I’m not the media’s image of what girls should be.” Well, very, very few of us are. Pop culture wants to tell us that we’re all shallow, backstabbing, appearance-obsessed shopaholics without a thought in our heads beyond cute boys and cuter handbags. It’s a lie – a flat-out lie – and we need to recognize it and say so instead of accepting that judgment as true for other girls, but not for you.
You know how there are movies, and then there’s cinema?
Yeah well, there are pics… and then there are photographs.
